It has been difficult to do a weekly update the last couple of weeks. Some food is affecting me I think, as I haven’t been feeling great, my weight has been fluctuating within days and it’s been difficult to track. However, I hit a half a stone weight loss, and up to 10cm difference in my measurements! It’s definitely not all about size for me – I love my body even if nobody else does! But this is a sign that things are going in the right direction when it comes to looking after myself and focusing on my health.
How my week went…
Due to the fluctuations, it was difficult to stay motivated, but I made sure to keep moving and keep eating right every single day. As I said in week 1, consistency is my biggest difficulty, so I’m actually really pleased with myself for keeping it up.
One thing I noticed last week was how natural my habits feel too. I hardly used to drink water, especially in Winter. It seems silly, but I just didn’t enjoy it and when thirsty I’d always stick the kettle on. In the first weeks I found it difficult to finish a bottle. Now I drink 2-3 litres daily without a struggle.
I always loved long walks, but now I have them most days, aiming for 12,000 steps a day. Some days I don’t manage due to timing or being busy, but either way I make an effort to take a walk. Everyone who calls me knows that’s how I spend my calls now, wandering the streets and circling the local park!
I haven’t been going over my suggested calories often, and when I do I balance it out through the week. I am also finally snacking less. At first I felt like if it fit within the calories it was fine, but I’m sure I was snacking more than I used to.
These daily habits are the things that will make the biggest difference in the long run and I’m so glad they finally feel less like an effort and just a part of my normal every day life.
Where to start. The fluctuating has meant I added 4lbs one day and over the course of the weeks lost 6lb. It was all very confusing and my stomach is bloating at the sight of food at the moment. I’m using an elimination diet to see what it is. I was going to do a test, but feel like I’ve ordered a dodgy one, so will get a different one. The website was full of spelling mistakes after checkout, no real customer service, and so on – annoying!
So in the last few weeks, it’s been completely up and down and is currently up again. In Week 4 I was down 2lbs again, but am currently up. I’m going to wait a few days and check again when I’m not carrying my ‘bleh’ body around. The weight isn’t necessarily what bothers me, but it’s having an affect on how my clothes fit, etc. and I’m just uncomfortable.
I had a week or so without much working out, but brought it back finally by making things non-negotiable. I gave myself no choice but to get it done!
My results were more to show things were going right before, but I’m actually just going to share my wins each week from now on. At first, even shifting some weight and moving were big wins for me, but now that feels less important and I just want to feel good again.
Win of the week(s): Not giving up! I’m usually so easy on myself and give up easily if something isn’t working for me, but I’ve been stricter and kept at it. Massive win for me!
This week, I’m going to be doing more elimination and cutting out gluten to check if that is what is affecting me and trying to keep things consistent.
