This is the first day of the rest of your life

Its 1st January 2019 and I have decided this will be the year that a lot of things change. I know, I know, everyone feels like this on the first day of the year, but after some reflection over the holidays, I have realised where I need to focus my energy. I would like to take you along for the journey, give my tips on how to make every single day better than the last and to appreciate each day. No matter how bad one day is, things can change by the next. 

One of the most important things to keep in mind is that anything can change in a year, month, week or even a day. With this mindset, and with the right guidance, everyone can make the most of each day.

This doesn’t mean living as if each day is your last. This means living each day with intention, knowing that anything could happen and that you are capable of anything. This is something I’m pretty good at, but it does have it’s downsides as you’ll see if you read on.

Where to start?

Before we begin 2019, take some time to think about the areas in your life that you are happy with. 
Why are you happy with them? How did you become happy with them? Can they still be improved?

Now think about the things that you are not happy with. What would you change about each area? Why is it important to change that area? How will it benefit your life if it is changed?

Write these areas down. The good and bad. Write down the why and really think about it. The why is what causes action. The why is the reason we make the changes. If the why is to please other people, or has a surface reason, it will be much harder to change.

For example, if you want to lose weight because you think others will find you more attractive, as soon as you are made to feel unattractive, it’s easier to lose motivation. It’s okay if that’s still your reason, but realise that the why might not be right for you, and might be the reason for your apparent failure.

You can think about any area in life that you would like to focus on this year, but here are a few ideas for those not feeling too inspired:

  • Fitness
  • Career
  • Relationship
  • Family
  • Friendships
  • Self care

There will be regular motivation here and on Instagram, because I believe that we can take on 2019 and make it the most collaborative project yet and have the best year together!
