Lunch at The Garden Room, The Mansion

On the weekend, I went for a walk in Roundhay Park and a bit of lunch. We walked around the beautiful gardens and stopped for lunch at the perfect time, as our sunny Yorkshire weather turned into pouring rain! Standard British day out!

I had no intention of posting about the lunch, but it was so good that I think others should know about it.

The Mansion

We decided to go to The Mansion for our stop. I’ve been to The Mansion before for a Dine Venues event, but this time we went to The Garden Room cafe.

The Garden Room was steadily busy the whole time we were there on Saturday lunch time, so you may want to book ahead if in a group. It’s perfect for a group of friends, couples, family lunch or even parties – there was a baby shower starting up when we left.

Beautifully and classically decorated, with matching textiles and table pieces, The Garden Room was the perfect spot for a more fancy lunch. The staff were really friendly and happy too, and the food was fantastic!

The Food

For starters, we all had the soup of the day – Asparagus and Pea Soup – which was perfect. I don’t eat much soup, but I could eat this every single day! The bread was lovely too!

For our main, which really wasn’t needed after such a good starter, I had ‘The Mansion Burger Board’ with a steak and shallot burger, while my friends had Smoked Haddock and Leek Risotto. My steak burger was so filling after the soup! But so very good. The triple cooked chips that came with it were amazing! I hear the risotto was amazing as well.

With an all day brunch option, afternoon tea and the à la carte menu, there’s loads to choose from for all times of day. I  really didn’t expect that much and thought it was more a place for a quick sandwich, so was even more impressed with what we had. The Mansion is situated at Roundhay Park, near the gardens, which is the perfect walk on a nice day before or after your meal.

Have you ever been for lunch at The Garden Room in The Mansion? What’s your favourite meal time?
