Ever got back from the shop with some beers or wine (or soft drinks?) and been too impatient to wait for them to chill in the fridge? Or turned up at a party with no room in the fridge or freezer?
Well, there is a way to chill your drinks faster than you could in a freezer and it’s really simple. As usual, I have personally tried this and it works!
Get a big bowl/bucket/drinks cooler.
Put drinks in first. Then add some ice and water – it’s best to fully submerge the drinks.
Tip in some salt. Add a bit more ice for good measure.
Wait for about 20 minutes – maybe say hello to fellow party-goers or just learn to be a bit patient!
Now you have ice cold drinks!
There is science behind this regarding the melting point of the ice due to the salt, but if you don’t care about that and just want a cold drink then this is the way!
